TAXES IN POLAND
Poland’s tax system is characterized by a variety of tax rates, rules, and numerous exceptions. While it’s unnecessary to delve into all the complexities, it’s important to understand that the tax rate applicable to your business depends largely on the nature of your activities. Below are some examples of tax rates based on specific business types:
3% – Sale of various types of goods.
5.5% – Manufacturing activities, including artistic works resulting in a specific product (e.g., musical compositions, paintings, handicrafts, digital creations such as e-books, and more).
8.5% – The base rate for many service-based businesses, such as educational, managerial, and many IT services.
12% – Certain categories of IT services.
8.5% / 12% – Rental and accommodation-related services.
There are additional rates and detailed classifications for various professions. For instance, a web designer could be classified as a "specialist designer" subject to a 14% tax rate. However, due to the vague definition of a specialist designer, they might also qualify for the 8.5% base service rate.
This complexity can make navigating the tax system challenging. We can assist by connecting you with professionals who can help you identify and select the most advantageous tax solution tailored to your specific situation.
REGISTRATION IN POLAND
For EU Citizens:
EU citizens can easily register a business in Poland thanks to the freedom of movement within the EU. You will need a valid ID or passport and may need to obtain a PESEL (Polish personal identification number) or NIP (tax identification number). Registration is typically done via the Central Registration and Information on Economic Activity (CEIDG) platform, and you may also need to register for VAT if applicable.
For Non-EU Citizens:
Non-EU citizens can register a business in Poland but must meet additional requirements, such as having a valid residence permit or visa that allows for business activities. The process includes obtaining a PESEL or NIP and registering through CEIDG. Certain business forms may require proof of residence or additional documentation.
In both cases, ensuring compliance with local regulations and tax obligations is essential. We work with local experts that can streamline the process and help navigate specific legal requirements.
